My third nappyversary!!

I'm so happy to say that I am 3 years natural! My official nappyversary was January 15th. I have learned so much in these 3 years and I'm still learning about my mane and how to care for it. In last years nappyversary I talked about 15 random natural hair tips and since my regimen has changed a bit I wanted to share a few things I have learned about my hair this year.

  • I still deep condition least once every 2 weeks but sometimes I have enough time to do it once a week. I recently discovered that my hair loves to be deep conditioned on DRY hair :)
  •  I still wash in sections but I no longer use shampoo to cleanse my hair. I use an ACV/water mixture to cleanse my hair once a month and during the other weeks I will either cowash or use the terressentials mud cleanser. This prevents excess dryness and the stripping of essential oils and moisture from my hair.
  • I am an advocate of FINGER DETANGLING! I stopped using combs on my hair nearly a year ago and I have noticed a huge difference in the strength and thickness of my hair. I use coconut oil, a spray bottle mixture of leave in, water and some oils and my fingers only. I do use combs when I straighten my hair though.
  • I'm very into protective styling and I have put myself on a personal challenge to protective style for the next several months to see how much length and thickness I can retain. I have noticed that my hair thrives when it is left alone. My next post will be about my protective style challenge and my reasons for putting down the flat iron until my next birthday.
Thats it! I still use the same conditioners (Giovanni's smooth as silk deeper moisture conditioner, Aubrey Organics GPB & HSR) the same leave in (Kinky curly knot today) and my same mango butter/shea butter mixture. Now for some pictures of my hair over the past year.

I straightened my hair in April and was pleased with my growth. Then I wore buns and braidouts for the rest of the spring..

I wanted a break so I got my first set of Marley twists in June..I fell in LOVE!

...and again in August :)

I decided to straighten my hair again in October for my you can see...growth!

Comparison from when I straightened in April to when I straightened in October

Then back to buns

I know that my sister and I have been very MIA for a few months but we are back on it and ready to revamp the blog please stay tuned for more! Thanks for viewing!
