Onyi's creamy deep conditioner recipe

Hello Ladies! I was getting ready to wash my hair and I thought I would share my deep conditioning recipe with you. Deep conditioning is essential to every head of hair from natural to relaxed. This recipe  is what I use every single week to strengthen and nourish my hair. Certain ingredients change depending on the season so once it gets warmer I will post the recipe of my spring/summer deep conditioner.

Ingredients you will need:

  • Aubrey Organics Honey suckle rose conditioner (~1/2 cup)
  • Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner (every other week) (~1/2 cup)
  • Giovanni Smooth as Silk deeper moisture conditioner (~1/2 cup)
  • Rice Bran oil (~3 teaspoons)
  • Meadow Foam oil (~3 teaspoons)
  • Castor oil (~3 teaspoons)
  • Jojoba oil (~3 teaspoons)
I use the Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner every other week because it contains protein. So I don't need it as much as I need the moisture from the honey suckle rose conditioner and the Giovanni conditioner. If you do not understand the protein/moisture balance please click the link! Also, I just estimated the amounts needed in the recipe because they are relative to the length and thickness of your hair. I have found that since my hair has been getting longer I have been using a lot more product. Below you will find some pictures of all the ingredients I use in my deep conditioner plus the final creamy, yummy product! Please try it out and let me know how you like it and how it makes your hair feel! Thanks for reading :-)

XOXO,
Onyi

  1. What do you think about glycerin for moisture? I'm trying to use the easy route and stick to one thing cuz I get lazy sometimes.

    1. Hey doll! I like glycerin but more for the spring/summer months. Glycerin is a humectant and humectants draw moisture from the environment into your strands...especially in the more humid months. However, during the cold, dry winter it can have the opposite effect. It can pull moisture from your strands and release it into the environment. I usually include glycerin or some other humectant in my spring/summer deep conditioning recipe. Hope that helps! :-)
