Lent - 40 days of praise and abstinence

As you all should know Lent began this week on Ash Wednesday. Lent is a 40 weekday period of fasting and  penitence and it represents the period before Easter Sunday. Sundays are not included in the 40days until Easter. During this time Christians will commit to fasting daily or giving up certain types of luxury as a form of penitence. This time is meant to show appreciation a reflection on the 40 days that Christ spent in the desert fasting. For this lent period I am choosing to give up chicken, turkey, pork and beef and begin a vegetarian diet which will include fish. I feel that this period will be very beneficial to me and help me grow closer to Christ. I will also spend this time praying and reading scriptures daily. I have begun doing research on different vegetarian recipes that I will be sharing with you all and my experiences going meatless. I have never done something like this before and I'm sure it will be very difficult but I am ready for the experience. This is something that I have been wanting to do for a while now and I think it will be very enriching for me. So lets see how this goes! Be on the look out for future posts about my experience during these 40 days. What have you decided to give up for Lent? Please share :)

xoxo,
Onyi
